I am married and have three adult children. My wife and I both graduated from Central Michigan University and all 3 of are children have attended CMU as well. The youngest will graduate the spring of 2016. I graduated from CMU in 1975 and began teaching in Utica in 1978. I have been here at Shelby Junior High since the beginning of my teaching career. I received my Masters in the Art of Teaching degree from Cambridge College in Cambridge Massachusetts. I also work as an usher for the Detroit Tigers at Comerica park during the summers. My son and I have visited 28 out of 30 ball parks so far. Some have been replaced and we will need to revisit those in the future, as well as try to hit the ballparks in Texas to finish the 30 teams. I enjoy cycling and was at one time a member of the UMCA (ultra marathon cycling association) and have done the Race Across America qualifiers and the Paris-Brest-Paris trials as well. I also enjoy traveling and have been to 50 states finally finding my way to Arkansas this past summer and made my way to dig for diamonds. I have also visited Canada, Australia, England, Scotland, Wales, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Liechtenstein. My travels have afforded me to experience the geological and environmental differences in these areas and to share my experiences in the classroom. I am a member of the National Science Teachers Association and Michigan Earth Science Teachers Association.
